Unboxing DELL 9th Gen Optiplex AIO 7470

Watch my video on this the fastest All-in-one PC :)

Cheapest option around, was it worth it?

In July DELL had a July Black Friday event, I needed to upgrade my current All-in-one as with regular editing of 4K video it was becoming a bit laggy.

At first we ordered the Inspiron thinking it was the fastest and best, but we later found out they had business versions with the latest 9th generation chipset's and 8core cpu.

The differences between Inspiron and Optiplex:

Optiplex has latest chipset and up to i9 CPU available.

Optiplex has Intel UHD 630 graphics. (HDR unavailable at the time of writing). Even though our 620 chip in our HP Laptop does have this working. Running update driver did not find an update like the Intel Driver Assistant did, but this failed to install update.

The base of the screen for Optiplex is a black plastic mesh, compared to silver (possibly metal) on the Inspiron.

Optiplex has adjustable height stand.

The power supply is old kettle lead without a transformer box that most computers now have including the Inspiron.

Out of the Box updates are needed for security, sound and network drivers and even the BIOS. see our setup experience and troubleshooting blog.

dell support assistant review

The DELL SupportAssist seems a great idea, it would be if it actually found updates.

After the Dell assistant finished, we went into the device manager and some items found new driver updates, yet Dell's software missed them which is very disappointing.

The support software on our HP laptop successfully found everything that needed updates.

This is a disappointment that Dells failed and the overall experience is not good.
